I will hold my peace

August was a very eventful month. The 8/8 date that was on almost all lips finally came only for the country to go into elections that were later on nullified. The aftermath of that decision raises the question whether we really are a country that is 80% christian. The level of hate being propagated on various platforms raises brows.

I feel like a lot of propaganda is being spread. I bet most of us have very little knowledge of the law or the constitution; if we have any knowledge whatsoever but going through what people are writing or listening to their oration, you’d think they are legal experts.

Brotherly love has ceased to exist. We’ve become a people who can’t be convinced beyond our second or third names. Instead of being agents of love, we are fanning political division based on our tribes. At this point I wonder whether the demise of tribalism will ever see the light of day.

Our political atmosphere is very very charged characterized by such a heated exchange of words and chest thumping with various groups trying to stamp authority. Maybe we have become so consumed by our political affiliations that we have forgotten about the existence of a sovereign being, God, who controls where the lot falls. We may claim that we are Christians but the true evidence of our being followers of Christ lies in how we conduct ourselves esp when pushed to the wall.

Do I have an opinion? Of course I do.. But based on my very dismal political knowledge, I’d only express unwarranted thoughts that have no truth in them.

I would urge us to watch our words. The Bible talks of the power of the tongue.. In it lies life and death. Let us be very careful how we use our words. May we seek to build rather than divide.

As it has been said repeatedly

Kenya is bigger and greater than any single individual.

If your words will not build, you are better off remaining quiet.
